North Level District Internal Drainage Board is a contributing authority to Planning processes across the three District Council areas where they fall within the Board’s boundary.

Planning applications are regularly sent for us to make consent comments. Our Engineer investigates the site location and its proximity to any of the Board’s watercourses, before any comments are made and the application returned to the relevant authority.

Consent Comments: As a contributing authority, the Board does not have powers to pass or reject any planning application that is sent to us for comments. Our role is to ensure that the application, if granted, will not hinder nor effect access to the Board’s watercourses, as well as ensuring the anticipated works will not have any detrimental effect on their water quality or the flow capacity of the channel.
