Denhams Pumping Station

Constructed in 1979 as part of the North Level Major Improvement Scheme. It was designed to evacuate surplus water from an area of 761 hectares of predominantly agricultural land, but there are also approximately 180 houses that benefit from the protection given by the Pumping Station.

Denhams Pumping Station consists of one 600mm diameter axial flow Weirs pump, with a capacity of 62T/min or 1.05 cumecs, powered by a Brook Crompton Parkinson Ltd. 37kw electric motor. The pump and electric motor are of all weather construction, the electrical control switchgear being houses in a purpose built brickbuilding. The pump discharges directly into the Shire Drain, which then outfalls into the North Level Main Drain downstream of Tydd St. Giles.

There are also 2 No. 600mm gravity discharge pipes passing through the station that cater for low flows.
